General Recycling Policy

Primarily being a paper printer and using metal plates, you could understand that we would use a lot of paper and that there would be waste.

Paper Recycling Many years ago Superfine partnered with a large Paper recycing company which provided us with many green plant room bins and a 25 cubic meter paper bin for the sole purpose of paper recycing. On a daily basis the green bins are emptied into the large bin and then approximately every 3 days the large bin is replaced.

Superfine not only recycles approximately 25 tonnes of waste paper per month, but we also give some of our waste paper to schools for arts & crafts.

Not all waste paper, after it has gone through the printing process, is good for painting or using textas and crayons on as they may have a varnish or UV coating. But when there is suitable waste, this paper is put aside and staff are permitted to take the paper home or give to their local school or community. Superfine does not sell this paper and it is only available to superfine employees.

Plate Recycling Every printing job requires special metal plates and even though the job may have been finished and delivered the plates are stored on site for up to 2 months. After this time they are packaged and sent to recyclers, similar to the general public recycling aluminimum cans.

Film Recycling Although superfine no longer produces film, we still have film archived for return customer work. After the contents of the film is digitised and the film is no longer required, it is packed and sent away for special processing where the silver is removed prior to the plastic being recycled.
