Technology Q & A's

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) of our Technology Team.

  1. Q. What is the maximum File size I can email you?
    A. Superfine has no limit on the size of the attachment emailed to us, but we do recommend you check your sending capabilities, as some Internet providors have sending attachment limits and depending on the uploading speed of your connection, it may be easier to web upload or courier to file.
  2. Q. What is the difference between web upload and FTP?
    A. Although both entail sending a file over the internet, they both use different methods of sending. Superfine offers both services but only provides FTP to those customers who send very and numerous quantities of files. Web upload uses the same protocols as an internet webpage. When you enter the upload site, you fill out the form and provided a link to the file location on your machine. Our webserver then retrieves the file and uploads the file from your machine to ours. Once the file is fully received the system will automatically send emails to you, production and your sales representative. Should the connection fail or drop out at any time, then the process is cancelled and you have to start all over again. There is no true indication of how much of the file has been received, but we can get close. With FTP, this is a protocol which was created specifically for File Transfer, hence it's name (File Transfer Protocol - FTP). This allows for both machines to handshake and agree on a method of transfer and once the transfer begins, you can see the progress of it. Depending on your settings, there is generally no timeout and should the connection drop, you can resume the transfer upon connection. This method does not advise our Production that a file or files have been received, therefore you still have to email or call us to advise.
